City Sky "Les Yeux au Ciel"
Exposed starting from May 25th, 2011 to the SeeKoo Hotel in Bordeaux (Fr).
We are accustomed when we walk downtown to look with breast height. Motor vehicle traffic, the crowd of the pedestrians, multiple obstacles on the pavements… All encourages us there to avoid the fall, the scuffle or the accident.
But to look at there more closely, the city is especially built vertically, of the ground of the street to the ridge sheathing of the roofs. By taking my old cases format means whose aiming is done by the top, I also discovered the city with the strong current of the ground; the vision which a cat, a dog or a baby in his pushchair can have.
The particular aiming of this kind of camera also encouraged me to raise the eyes towards the sky to look at the city as a graphic design, to imagine what is woven behind these frozen panes, to interpret the inscriptions with the pediments, to seek the place of human in these universes sometimes ultra smooth and cold. It is this 2nd vision of the city which I propose to you here in this exposure whose almost totality of the photographs was carried out with film average format and Hasselblad cases and Mamiya with named aiming “cap”.
